ABOUT US

Sea of Cortez Sailing was built on a simple idea: sailing should feel both exhilarating and effortless. A blend of blue horizons, real seamanship, curated comforts, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home on the water.

What started as passion for the Sea of Cortez has grown into a small, dedicated team committed to sharing one of the most extraordinary sailing regions on earth. Our approach is grounded in professionalism, safety, and respect for the environment, without ever losing the joy that brings people to the ocean in the first place.

Why the Sea of Cortez?

Jacques Cousteau famously called it “the world’s aquarium,” and he wasn’t wrong.
Here, each day brings something unforgettable:

  • Volcanic islands that rise from the water like sculptures

  • Bays so clear they feel unreal

  • Dolphins riding your bow wake

  • Whale encounters

  • Desert meeting turquoise water

It’s a place that changes people. We’ve seen it happen a thousand times.

Our Philosophy

  • Light footprint, deep respect: This sea is sacred. Leave-no-trace is non-negotiable. We’ve built our operations to protect the waters we love.

  • Comfort meets adventure: thoughtful menus, cold drinks at sunset, balanced with real seamanship, hands-on learning, and the freedom to explore untamed coastline.

  • Skills that stay with you: Whether you’re learning to trim sails, anchor safely, or plan a passage, our teaching is clear, calm, and confidence-building. We want you to leave our boats wiser, safer, and more empowered on the water.

Choose Your Experience

  • Kick-Back ChartersChef-prepared meals, paddleboards, remote anchorages, sunsets with mezcal. You relax, we handle the rest.

  • Hands-On TrainingHoist, trim, tack, anchor, plot. You’ll learn modern cruising skills with instructors who prioritize clarity and safety. Logbook signed, confidence earned.

  • Private Weeks & Custom TripsYour boat, your group, your pace. Whether you want full sail training or full relaxation, we tailor every detail so you get the week you envisioned.

At the end of the day…

Shoes off, face in the breeze, sun dropping behind a ridge of red rock; this is the part people never forget. The Sea of Cortez has a way of slowing life down and opening it up.

The wind’s ready when you are.

Our Instructors

LEAD CAPTAIN

AND INSTRUCTOR

You’ll train with our lead captain, Abraham Levy: record-breaking explorer, ocean athlete, and full-time skipper. He solo-kayaked the entire 11,000 km Mexican coastline and later rowed the Atlantic from Spain to Mexico, unassisted. Decades on the water (and thousands of teaching miles) have honed a sixth-sense feel for weather, sail trim, and seamanship. Abraham will school you in what he calls “Windish,” the art of reading the breeze with every sense you’ve got; so you leave speaking the language of the wind, confidently and fluently.

Spend a week living, learning, and laughing aboard our 46-footer while we turn you from passenger into confident helm-boss. From sail-trim magic and knot-tying Jedi tricks to coastal-nav plotting and MOB drills, you’ll rack up the miles and the muscle memory needed to skipper a monohull with swagger. By the final sunset you’ll have a signed-off digital logbook, a pocket full of new sea stories, and the “Windish” vocabulary to read a gust before it even thinks about hitting the sails.
